Scenic Adventures / Sight Seeing
Leaving Paine field we will fly southbound toward Mount Rainier, gliding over lakes and rivers beneath and in front of us. On the left is the Cascade mountain range where you may see such peaks as Mount Pilchuck, Mount Index, and if we have been very good people, just maybe Mount Rainier will “be out” as we say here.
To the west is beautiful Puget Sound, including the Kitsap Peninsula and several of the southern islands, backed by the Olympic mountain range. As we gently bank toward Seattle; Bellevue, Medina, (where Bill Gates lives) and Mercer Island are to your left.

Seattle Skyline
As we enter the edge of downtown Seattle’s airspace, we will make two gentle turns around the Space Needle.

One for passengers on the left and one for passengers on the right, then head north along the waterfront.
Below us on the left side is one of the largest marinas on the west coast, Shilshole. The premier sailing center of the Northwest, Shilshole Bay Marina provides monthly moorage for 1476 boats, sail and power, guest moorage for more than 100 boats dry moorage for 92 vessels up to 40 fee. (12.2 meters)
Did you notice the ferries going to and from the Kitsap peninsula from Edmonds out the left side of the airplane? The Ferry system in Washington State is the largest system in the United States and third largest in the world, and is a huge part of the state’s highway system.
By now we are entering the traffic pattern for our landing back at Paine Field.
The flying time is approximately 30 minutes. Total time in the airplane with taxi and system checks is approximately 45 minutes.

The Island tour
As we depart Paine Field you will soon feel a gentle bank to the west where you may see off to the left the Seattle Skyline in the distance, and if you are lucky, Mount Rainier. It is a great day in the Pacific Northwest when “The Mountain is out.” On the right side of the airplane you will see Whidbey Island, Camano Island and maybe Mount Baker.
As we gain altitude and are a bit further west you will see the Olympic Mountain range on the left side of the airplane, and on the right more of the San Juan Islands.
As we come to the west edge of Whidbey Island we will start a gentle bank to the north and on a clear day you can see out the left side of the airplane the Strait of Juan de Fuca, with Victoria, Canada on the north side of the strait. The right side now has the Cascade mountain range clearly in view with the major landmarks of Mt. Baker, Mt. Shucksan, Three Sisters, Glacier Peak, and on down the line of mountain peaks. We will get a closer look later.
As we level off at our cruising altitude of 5,000 feet and start a turn eastward we can clearly see more of the San Juan Islands out the left side, and on the right, Bellevue, Lake Washington, and again the Seattle skyline. As we near the Cascade Range, we turn southwest and start a gentle descent toward Paine Field for our approach and landing.
Now, the folks on the left side can see Bellevue, Lake Washington, and again the Seattle skyline, and the right side the San Juan Islands.
The flying time is approximately 30 minutes. Total time in the airplane with taxi and system checks is approximately 45 minutes.
We hope you will enjoy your aerial tour as much as we enjoy bringing the beauty and magnificence of the Puget Sound to you.

Exciting Piper Cub rides!
The Piper Cub has been the hallmark of aviation nostalgia. Piper produced Cubs from 1937 to 1946. Ours is one of the newest Cubs, being built in 1946. She has led a life of excitement and training. If only she could tell us some of her stories. Now you can become a new chapter in her life. Here she is, waiting for you to take a ride into history.

A Cub Pilot's story
The drops of dew still sit on the blades of grass as the sun starts to peek its way between the buildings. Walking into the dark hangar an outline of the antique airplane sits nose high, looking skyward as if it were begging to fly.  The shadows almost seem to hold a story, countless stories that only the airplane could tell. As the door opens, the silhouette of the Piper Cub gradually turns from a mysterious gray to a more familiar bright yellow.
The crisp morning air fills the hangar, and it seems both of us smile knowing we will no longer be earthbound.  It only takes a few turns of the propeller before the engine comes to life. There is no deafening noise from the Cub, and even through the open airplane door the sound is welcome. Just long enough for my nose to capture it, the sweet scent of the engine start-up hints its way into the airplane cabin.
On takeoff the calm morning air causes me to wonder if I really did anything to get the airplane off the ground. Barely having to move the stick, the airplane seems to be doing the job of flying itself. Today it seems I’m only along for the ride. Heading eastbound in the valley, the sun continues to creep up over the mountains. With the Cub door open, unobstructed views of farm fields and pastures add to the peacefulness of the morning.
All too soon I find myself returning to the airport. As the runway comes into view I wonder how the same picture can take on a different character every time. With reluctance, I find my way back to the hanger and put the Cub away for another day.  Today I walk away with one story that not only the airplane can tell.

What about that top performer, reward that employee with something more than a dinner at that 5 star restaurant.

This image will be remembered long after the taste of that dinner has faded.
